Why is a fast food chain in Arizona being dubbed “a Ponzi scheme?”

A fast food restaurant in Arizona is being called a Ponzis scheme.

The owner of The Pitchers, who has since been fired, has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of wire fraud, according to a statement from the Arizona Department of Revenue.

The Pitchers owner, Robert D. Stoner, was arrested in December for allegedly failing to report income from three businesses, including two that sold burgers and fries.

Stoner also was arrested for allegedly making false statements to the Arizona Secretary of State’s office, the department said.

Stoners attorney told The Arizona Republic that he did not know Stoner was being investigated and did not believe the investigation was related to Stoner’s businesses.
